Energy Audit Vouhers

An energy audit is a systematic review of your entire business operation

An energy audit is a systematic review of your entire business operation from an energy usage perspective. Generally, it looks at on-site energy consumption as well as energy associated with transport and the day-to-day running of the business.

What’s included:

  • Building energy usage
  • Heating
  • Hot water
  • Lighting
  • Ventilation
  • Process energy
  • Transport and machinery costs

How it works

Cork Energy Consultancy provides expertise in the delivery of high quality, energy efficient and regulation compliant building. Our services include commercial and domestic BER and NZEB regulation compliance,Deep retrofit design for existing buildings, energy audits, Energy master planning and Home Performance Index certification.

Data Collection

We request your energy bills and drawings of the business.

Desktop Assessment

Before visiting the site, we carry out a desktop assessment to build an energy usage profile.

Site visit

We examine the building fabric, large energy users, and carry out a detailed on-site audit.

Analysis of energy use

We look at general energy usage for heating, hot water, lighting, and process loads. We also examine what is found on-site, including machinery and equipment.

Engagement

We speak with management and staff on the ground to get a good understanding of how the business operates.

Targeting improvements

We identify the most effective paths to reduce energy consumption and discuss options with site representatives and management.

Dynamic simulation modelling (optional)

For more complex buildings, we may carry out modelling to estimate how upgrades to the fabric, heating, lighting, etc., could reduce energy demand. These models allow us to build a base case and simulate the impact of changes.

Reporting

We provide a detailed report showing the costs and savings of potential upgrades, estimated energy reductions, and realistic payback periods for investment.

Is there support available for this process?

Yes, there are several schemes available at both local and national levels:

  • Local support is available through energy suppliers, consultants, and local energy officers (LEOs).
  • National support includes SEAI programmes and, for larger projects, EU funding mechanisms. These can cover up to 30–50% of the cost of measures, depending on the type of bussiness.
  • Small grant support is available through LEOs and other local incentives.
  • SEAI also offers grants for energy audits through the Commercial Energy Grant (CEG) programme.

Energy Audit Voucher Scheme

The first step to access any of these supports is to carry out an energy audit report. Funding is available through SEAI support schemes for energy audits.

If your business has an annual energy spend of over €10,000, you may be entitled to an energy audit voucher of up to €2,000.

This is particularly useful for small and medium-sized enterprises looking to identify the most energy-efficient measures for their operations.
