About the service
What is it:
Part L is the section of Irish building regulations that sets the minimum energy efficiency and carbon emission standards for non-domestic buildings. All new commercial buildings and those undergoing major renovation must demonstrate compliance before they can be occupied or signed off.
Cork Energy Consultancy use advanced modelling software alongside the mandatory SEAI SBEM software, which gives flexibility in testing different design options, heating and ventilation systems to find the most cost-effective route to compliance.
Who Needs it:
You'll need Part L compliance if you are:
- Constructing a new commercial building
- Carrying out a major renovation or extension
- Installing or upgrading building services such as boilers, heating, lighting or ventilation
How it works:
- We model your building using SBEM, the mandatory SEAI compliance software for commercial buildings
- We test different design options, heating and ventilation systems to find the best path to compliance
- We produce the compliance report required for planning and building control sign-off
What you get
- A Part L compliance report demonstrating your building meets current building regulations
- Expert guidance on the most cost-effective route to compliance during the design stage

Our service works look like this

Home Energy Rating (BER)
A BER cert is essentially an energy label for your home, rating it from A to G so you know exactly how efficient it is and what it's costing you to run.

New Build Energy Compliance (Part L)
If you're building a new home or carrying out major renovation works, we make sure your project meets the energy efficiency standards required under Irish building regulations.

Deep Retrofit Design
From your pre-works assessment right through to your final cert, we take care of the technical side of your One Stop Shop retrofit.

Commercial Energy Rating (BER)
If you're selling, leasing or constructing a commercial building, we carry out the energy assessment and produce the BER cert you're legally required to have.

Energy Certificates for Public Buildings (DEC)
If you manage a public building like a library, leisure centre or council office, we produce the Display Energy Certificate you're legally required to show on your premises every year.

Advanced Building Modelling (IES)
Using specialist simulation software approved by SEAI, we build a detailed digital model of your building to accurately calculate energy performance, carbon emissions and compliance.
