About the service
What is it:
A BER cert is essentially an energy label for your home, just like the rating sticker you'd see on a new fridge or washing machine.
It rates your home on a scale of A to G, where an A-rated home is the most energy efficient and will have the lowest running costs, and a G-rated home is the least efficient and the most expensive to heat and run.
Who Needs it:
You'll need a BER cert if you are:
- Selling or renting your home (it's a legal requirement since 2009)
- Advertising a property for sale or rent (legally required to display the rating)
- Finishing a new build before occupation
- Applying for SEAI grants
It's also worth getting one if you're planning upgrades and want to know where your money is best spent.
How it works:
- One of our assessors visits and surveys your home
- We look at insulation, heating, windows, ventilation and any renewables you have
- Your home is modelled in DEAP, the government-approved software for domestic assessments
- We calculate your energy use per square metre per year
- Your rating is produced and submitted to SEAI for approval
What you get
What you get:
- Your official BER certificate, valid for 10 years
- A detailed advisory report showing where heat is being lost and the most cost-effective improvements
- Both delivered within 48 hours
