About the service
What is it:
A Commercial BER cert is an energy label for non-domestic buildings, rating them on a scale of A to G based on their energy performance. It measures how efficiently a building uses energy across its heating, cooling, lighting, ventilation and hot water systems.
The rating is calculated using NEAP, the government approved software for non-domestic buildings, and is required by law in a range of situations.
Who Needs it:
You'll need a Commercial BER cert if you are:
- Selling or leasing a commercial property
- Constructing a new commercial building
- Carrying out a major renovation or extension
- Managing a public building over 250m²
How it works:
- One of our assessors visits the property and carries out a detailed survey
- The building is modelled in NEAP software to estimate average energy usage
- We produce graphical illustrations of the major sources of energy use
- We prepare an advisory report outlining the most cost-effective ways to improve the rating
- The rating is submitted to SEAI for approval and the cert is published
